Business System Analyst
Summary
The Business System Analyst is familiar with a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT, business and operations. This role conducts current-state analysis, use casing, and requirements elicitation and is capable of writing user stories as an output of these activities. The Business & System Analyst collaborates with others on system design with a focus on increasing productivity and reducing costs through process optimization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works with the Product Owner to facilitate stakeholder interviews, solution workshops and analysis of business requests and requirements to generate new product backlog items
- Analyzes and documents how systems, processes, procedures and end users will be impacted by future development
- Facilitates the identification of business and IT process improvements
- Collaborates with team members to address high-priority backlog items
- Creates and/or provides input into internal and external communications and user documentation
- Supports release management and go-to-market activities as required
- Supports testing with a focus on end to end validation
- Understands organizational governance processes and supports the team in ensuring that these processes are engaged appropriately
Domain Expertise
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst/Business Systems Analyst
- 3 to 5 years of varying requirements gathering techniques
- Skilled at finding hidden requirements, edge cases, and a “desire to break” attitude
- Knowledge of financial services industry
- Knowledge of relevant business, processes, systems and capabilities
- Good understanding of privacy, compliance, control and security requirements
- Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes
