DevOps Engineer – Azure (Part-Time)
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and contribute to the implementation of a data lakehouse platform for a leading water utilities company in the Philippines. This role is ideal for candidates with solid experience in DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure management, and CI/CD automation on Microsoft Azure, who are eager to work in a collaborative data engineering environment.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining automation pipelines, deploying cloud resources, and supporting the operations of the data lakehouse infrastructure. You will work alongside cloud architects, data engineers, and other technical specialists to ensure reliable, efficient, and secure deployment of data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines for the Microsoft Fabric-based data lakehouse platform.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning and application deployments using tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Collaborate with data engineers, cloud architects, and other technical teams to optimize deployment pipelines and streamline operational workflows.
- Assist in managing Azure infrastructure services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, and related resources.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to maintain platform health and performance.
- Participate in the deployment and support of data pipelines, cloud applications, and analytics workloads in Azure.
- Work with security and governance teams to help enforce data security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., Philippine Data Privacy Act).
- Automate recurring infrastructure maintenance and operational tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve deployment, infrastructure, and performance-related issues in coordination with the wider technical team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to DevOps tools and processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure management, and automation in Azure environments.
- Practical experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipeline creation and management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure services relevant to data platforms such as Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Understanding of cloud security, data privacy, and compliance requirements for regulated industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Associate).
- Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience with big data processing frameworks (Apache Spark, Kafka) is an advantage.
- Experience working in regulated industries like utilities, telecom, or finance is a plus.
- Knowledge of Agile project methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with data governance tools like Azure Purview is a bonus.
