IT Tester
Summary
The IT Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality of software applications developed. This role involves designing and executing test plans, identifying and documenting defects, and collaborating with developers to resolve issues. The IT Tester plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality software that meets business requirements and user expectations. This position requires a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, excellent analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases based on requirements specifications, user stories, and functional specifications. This includes defining test objectives, test environments, and test data.
- Execute test cases, document test results, and track defects using a bug tracking system. Perform various types of testing, such as functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and usability testing, as appropriate.
- Identify, document, and track software defects. Work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues. Verify bug fixes and ensure that resolved issues do not introduce new problems.
- Set up and maintain test environments, including configuring necessary hardware and software.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate tools.
- Prepare and present test reports summarizing test results, defect status, and overall software quality.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and best practices. Contribute to the improvement of testing processes within the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Experience with various testing techniques (e.g., black box testing, white box testing).
- Proficiency in using test management tools (e.g., Jira, HP ALM).
- Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Knowledge of database concepts and SQL (preferred).
- Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
