UNIX System Administrator
Job Description
- Provide the architecture, design, and planning processes for the development and installation of a Unix & VMWWARE infrastructure that satisfies the needs of all aspects of the business
- Remain current in the knowledge and use of Unix/Linux/VMWARE technology and management products
- Develop and maintain strategies for the deployment and implementation of System solutions throughout the organisation globally
- Coordinate all aspects of Unix/Vmware based architecture, design, and planning within the organisation
- Provide and coordinate a Server planning interface to all business units and project managers as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field.
- Previous experience as a UNIX system administrator.
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
- Detailed knowledge of UNIX principles, file editing, UNIX commands, and file manipulation.
- Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, LINUX, and LINUX shell scripting.
- Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP.
- Understanding of backup procedures and storage management.
- In-depth knowledge of computer hardware systems including circuit boards, memory modules, and processors.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
