As a Principal Data Scientist, you will deliver high-impact analytical solutions for a global client in the payments and financial services domain. You will execute complex data science projects, generate actionable insights, and translate data into measurable business outcomes that drive growth, customer engagement, and portfolio optimisation.
What You’ll Do and How You’ll Succeed
- Execute and deliver end-to-end data science and analytics projects addressing priorities such as portfolio management, customer segmentation, acquisition, digital adoption, and risk optimisation.
- Translate business challenges into analytical frameworks and apply statistical or machine learning techniques to generate insights and recommendations.
- Build, test, and deploy predictive and prescriptive models using advanced data science methods and tools.
- Work with large and complex data sets across on-premise and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with consulting and business stakeholders to define scope, design solutions, and communicate outcomes effectively.
- Deliver findings and recommendations through clear, data-driven storytelling and visualisation.
- Ensure project quality, consistency, and adherence to data science standards and best practices.
- Proactively identify opportunities to apply analytics and data science to emerging business challenges.
We’d Love to Hear From You If…
Experience
- You have at least 8 years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or statistical modelling within banking, payments, or financial services.
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics.
Technical Expertise
- You are proficient in Python, R, and SQL.
- You have experience with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
- You are familiar with cloud environments including GCP, AWS, and Azure.
- You have a solid understanding of statistical and machine learning methods such as regression, classification, clustering, gradient boosting, and neural networks.
- You are experienced with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
