As a Junior API Developer, you will support a migration initiative involving the transition from legacy systems to a new target environment. You will design and implement secure communication layers, build robust APIs, ensure high fidelity JSON based data mapping, and maintain the security integrity of all data in transit.
What You’ll Do and How You’ll Succeed
API Development
- Design, develop, and maintain secure RESTful web services to enable data exchange between legacy and target systems.
Data Mapping & Transformation
- Lead JSON payload structuring by parsing, validating, and mapping complex data fields into the required target schema.
Secure Integration
- Implement and manage secure data transmission protocols using REST over HTTPS.
- Ensure endpoints follow industry standard authentication such as OAuth2 and JWT.
Technical Documentation
- Maintain high quality API documentation using Swagger or OpenAPI to support seamless collaboration between frontend and backend teams.
Migration Support
- Identify and resolve integration bottlenecks during the migration effort.
- Ensure existing system functionalities are logically and efficiently aligned with new interface requirements.
We’d Love to Hear From You If…
Experience
- You have one to three years of experience in backend or integration development, preferably within financial services or banking.
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and the HTTP lifecycle.
- Proficiency in JSON structuring, parsing, and schema validation, with XML experience as a plus.
- Practical knowledge of securing APIs with SSL or TLS, HTTPS, and token-based authentication.
- Hands on experience using Swagger, OpenAPI, or Postman for endpoint testing and documentation.
- Familiarity with CI or CD pipelines and version control tools such as Git.

- Able to collaborate effectively with Business Analysts to translate migration requirements into technical specifications.
