Solutions Architect (Part-Time)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of a cutting-edge Microsoft Fabric-based data lakehouse for a leading water utilities company in the Philippines. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall solution architecture, ensuring that all data integration, analytics, security, and governance needs are met to support operational and regulatory reporting for the company.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud architecture, data engineering, and the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will work closely with various stakeholders including data engineers, business analysts, cloud architects, and data governance leads to deliver a robust, scalable, and secure lakehouse solution that will enable advanced analytics, business intelligence, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall design and architecture of the Microsoft Fabric-based data lakehouse, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with business requirements for the water utilities sector.
- Collaborate with business analysts and data engineers to understand data sources, processing requirements, and reporting needs, and map these into the data architecture.
- Work closely with the cloud data architect and other stakeholders to develop the technical architecture for ingesting, transforming, storing, and analyzing large datasets from diverse sources like SAP IS-U, SCADA, IoT sensors, billing systems, and customer service platforms.
- Define integration strategies and best practices for data migration and integration from on-premise systems to the cloud data lakehouse, leveraging tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI.
- Ensure the solution is designed with a focus on data security, compliance (including Philippine Data Privacy Act), and data governance standards to safeguard sensitive data within the water utilities domain.
- Develop and review cloud infrastructure architecture, ensuring optimal utilization of Azure resources to meet business, performance, and budgetary goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to technical teams, ensuring proper implementation of best practices and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the project, from planning, design, and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring successful delivery within the timeline and budget.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance the lakehouse architecture and address emerging business requirements or regulatory changes.
- Work with project managers to define the project roadmap, milestones, and timelines, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in solutions architecture or cloud architecture, with a focus on data solutions, especially in Microsoft Azure and related technologies.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, Power BI, and the broader Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing data lakehouse architectures, including the integration of structured and unstructured data.
- Strong experience working with SAP IS-U, SCADA, IoT, and other operational systems relevant to utilities data.
- Deep understanding of data governance and security frameworks, with a focus on regulatory compliance (e.g., Philippine Data Privacy Act, MWSS, LWUA).
- Expertise in cloud migration strategies and integration of on-premise data sources into the cloud environment.
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipeline orchestration.
- Experience working in agile environments, leading cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale, complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar certifications in Azure.
- Experience with serverless architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based solutions.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations in the Philippines, especially in regulated industries such as water utilities.
- Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI models that can be integrated into the lakehouse architecture for predictive maintenance, customer analytics, or other advanced use cases.
- Experience working with water utilities or critical infrastructure systems, particularly in the context of operational data and business intelligence.
